The Core. Incredibly horrible movie. It's like the writers said "Lets make a terrible ripoff of Armageddon, but make the crew go inside the Earth instead of into space."
Its funny because the movie is supposed to be like a serious thriller, yet the writers found a way to do EVERYTHING wrong. You could literally figure out which crew members would die, and hell you could easily guess correctly in which order they die too. Not to mention the horrible physics involved, basically everything mentioned in the movie is pure crap. They even ripped off the Straw Drawing scene from Armageddon. Here are some of the things I found funny:
-The ship they are on is drilling vertically into the Earth (they are going straight down), yet the crew can somehow freely move around the ship as if it were going horizontally.
-The ship and their suits are made of a special, rare metal called 'Unobtainium' (not even kidding, thats the actual name) which is heat resistant and allows the crew the survive while inside the Earth. I found it interesting that they were able to make a flexible suit out of a metal substance. Infact, 'Unobtainium' can also be molded into clear visors for the helmets! What a versatile metal!
-Near the end of the film, the ship runs out of power. Dont fear though, the main character realizes that 'Unobtainium' can convert heat energy into useable power and in a few minutes of welding etc. the ship has restored some of its power. Considering that some pretty smart scientists built this ship, why was this never utilized from the beginning? I mean, this is a pretty useful feature. Top class scientists couldn't think of this when they were making the ship yet some University professor suddenly gets this great idea.
Some pretty bad acting, pretty bad script....lets not forget the completely useless character, "Rat" (played by that guy with the big nose) is a hacker who is hired by the Secret Service (or what not) to patrol the internet and make sure that no rumours get spread about the bizarre weather events that are occuring. Basically, make sure that the public doesn't find out whats really going on and starts panicking. Not once during the entire movie do you actually see him doing his job at all, he plays no role at all throughout pretty much the whole movie.
Anyone else seen this piece of crap?
