In Windows you can just drag directories/files onto the dosbox executable. :)

Ok then... in Windows go to your DOS prompt, enter the dosbox directory and type:
dosbox c:\atlantis\atlantis.exe <---- this is an example of the file you want to run.

Then I guess you have to give the command when you're in that directory and not inside "c:\docume~1\nobody>"

Exactly
Let’s say I saved it at: c:\dosbox and I want to play Atlantis game.
So I must type:
c:\dosbox\dosbox c:\atlantis\atlantis.exe

Try the commands:
INTRO and HELP
It explains quite good information, example for mounting a drive from your filesystem. Just type <mount c c:/> and c:\ on your drive is c:\ on the shell, etc.
EDIT
this is for dos newbies;
<dir> lists the files in the current directory
<c:> changes drive to c:
<cd games> changes directory to \games
<game.exe> executes the file game.exe (executable files are; *.exe *.com and *.bat)

try a BOOTDISK for DOS
its sometimes a little bit difficult to find dos drivers for onboard soundcards, but you should get it at soundcard-drivers.com (after the !%(*)!!! registration process)
you also need mouse driver and sometimes a joystick driver (if you own one:)
you can even program a menue in the config.sys file, so that every game works perfect.
i can explain how to write it if someone wants to make a bootdisk.
those were good times....
cheers

Makes me squirm reading this stuff. I grew up with dos, so of course I can't understand what's so difficult about it.
On the other hand I don't have xp or dosbox... :P

If you find dosbox too hard to use you can always try Dos Mate (http://forums.emulator-zone.com/showthread.php?t=2172) which is not as good as DosBox but it alot easier to use as it is styled like modern emulators such as epsxe.
