vba saves

i have fire red for gba and i cna't save the game properly only with shif+f1 which means that when i beat the elite four the game ends for me.In the begining there is a messege which says that "1m sub-circuit board is not installed" and when i try to save it say "save error please try to exchange the backup memory"
i saw that in another guy someone suggested to delete the battery file and then change the save type to 128k but which is the battery file and how do i delete it
