Default Newbie having problem with Rolling Thunder

Hey everyone, hope you don't mind me asking for help.

I downloaded MAME the other day as I wanted to play Shinobi and Rolling Thunder again, games I haven't played since I was a kid in about 1989!

I'm not very good with techie stuff, but manged to get MAME going and the first game I downloaded was Shinobi and it worked staright away. Perfect.

The second game was Rolling Thunder and when I try to load it just fails. I audited it and it says:

    rthunder: cus60-60a1.mcu (4096 bytes) - NOT FOUND

Any ideas, sorry if it is obvious, but I'm not the best at this!

    Thanks in advance.

Possible you have a clone/parent problem. If you have the file rthunder, try also finding rthundero.

I now have two zip folders of Rolling Thunder in my Rom folder.

    rthunder 341kb

(when I audit: rthunder: cus60-60a1.mcu (4096 bytes) - NOT FOUND)

    rthundro 55kb

(when I audit: rthundro: cus60-60a1.mcu (4096 bytes) - NOT FOUND (shared with parent)

    Still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Annoyingly, the crappy Rolling Thunder 2 works!

I have no idea why its missing as that file is present inside my rthunder.zip. You must have an old or bad dump.

Either try obtaining rthunder.zip from an alternative source or If you have MSN or something then PM me and I'll give you my MSN addy and see if I can assist .

I'm new here but found this site during my search for a fix in this same issue. So I thought I'd post what I found.

First this site gave me the list of files MAME is looking for when I run Rolling Thunder...

    http://caesar.logiqx.com/php/emulato...&game=rthunder

I then checked that against the files in the zip I have and noticed that "cus60-60a1.mcu" was named simply "cus60". So I renamed the file to "cus60-60a1.mcu" and Voila! I'm happily playing Rolling Thunder. I'm not saying this is your exact issue here but it may be very similar in the sense that it's just a misnamed file or you may be missing one all together. I see it's been a few months since you posted this problem. Mostly this is in case someone else is googling for an answer like I was.
