NEED HELP

ok, so i just downloaded the final fantasy VI rom for vba.... i'm up to a part in which i have to perform a blitz attack for the first time, which involves pressing up, down and right simultaneously, then up down and left, then up down and right once more.... but no matter how many times i try, i cannot get it to work! is this something to do with the rom having a key input limit so you can't press 3 keys at the same time? HELP! (possibly noobish question, sorry!)
