    Default memory access problems

I'm having a problem running games that seems to occur with all emulators. Whenever i try to run a game (or even just boot into the bios) I get an error saying:

The instruction at "blah blah" referenced memory at "blah blah". The memory could not be "written".

The 2 memory addresses are always the same, which I read as meaning that the instruction is trying to overwrite itself.

This never used to happen and I can't think of any major changes i've made that may have caused this. I've tried reinstalling and using different plugins and bioses with no results. So far I've tried epsxe, pcsx and psx all with the same result. Any ideas?

    P.S. I am running Windows Server 2003 EE SP1

my server 2003 is an issue. I'm not sure if those emulators were designed to run on that OS
