Default ZNES and altered sound effects

I'm using the ZNES emulator, and for certain rom games such as Super Castlevania 4 or Chrono Trigger, the sound effects are different than from the original console games. I've heard that this has something to do with the sampling rate with the emulator itself, having too high of a frequency and that if you lower it, the sound effects will sound fine. Any ideas here as how to remedy this problem?

Download different ROM's. Some will have different sounds others will not.
I have a Chrono trigger with normal sound.

According to Nach (one of the ZSNES coders) sound is not too good on ZNES. It certainly is different from a real SNES. Perhaps you can try BSNES.
