how to save game progress on snes9x V1.43 for windows

I'm fed up with this thing,because everytime I try to save a agme a message pops up that says something like cannot create freeze file because apparently my drive is read only or something like that. How do I fix this. All help is greatly appreciated.

F2 should be to save the game state and F4 should be to load it. Try that.
