    Default Final Fantasy 7 Trouble

Okay, so after searching about the problem in this forum, I found no answers, so I'm going to try my luck by posting a thread simply..

The problem is not the typical "I CANT GET IT TO WOOOOORK"...

I have a really good computer, with a great graphics card (Radeon X1900XT).

However, when I'm playing FF7 during some periods, for example when a battle occurs, the game slows down a few seconds, it can clearly be noted by the slowing down of the music and such... I'm not using Petes OpenGL plugin however, because when I do, the graphics get seriously messed up.

I have another plugin from Pete, Petes Soft something... I'm guessing the OpenGL plugin is alot better but it wont work with my GFX card it seems.. Are there any other plugins that are recommended ?

PS. I've tried setting everything to fastest, and not nicest, in terms of graphics, even though my computer should be able to handle the very best and still be able to run.. It can for example do the latter with such games as Oblivion. Setting everything to fastest didnt work either and so I'm guessing its because of my plugin not being good enough.

EDIT : Just now found out that I could actually use Pete's OpenGL2, but when I tamper with the settings too much it becomes screwed up over the entire screen, and it doesnt solve the problem of the retardation of the gamespeed...

Any answer is higly appreciated! ^^

Why not trying earlier versions of ePSX or trying with pSX?

I would suggest playing with the framebuffer settings, enabling the FF7 special fix, and turning off the fullscreen filter if you select "Nice" settings. Or, yeah, pSX. That always works.

Yeah I had the same problem playing it on my computer. So all I had to do is find and download the pc version of it so that I never had to use an emulator for it. It's the only way I could play it without having to mess with my computer settings.

the pc version doesn't work completely for windows xp. You have to get a patch to get past one part of the game.
