- Windows NT isn't a very good OS for home usage. Plus, Windows 2000 is NT based and it's very comfortable.
- The contrary. You need the latest one.

- Dr. Watson is a system element. You cannot change it unless you update it.
I have emulators on my xp system and have had very few problems. Now I have been given a windows nt system. I have downloaded nest042 and snes9x to the nt system, however I cannot open the folder and install the programs. I am getting the following error message....
An error occured while loading the file C\\WINDOWS\Desktop\nestc042.zip. The file is damaged or is not a valad Dr. Watson log file.
Here are my questions
1. Does it matter if I am using a NT system?
2. Do I need an earlier version of an emulator?
3. Is Dr Watson on crack?
4. Do I need to change Dr Watson and how?
Thank you for any help someone may provide to me

Ahhh, just figured out well at least i think i did..... the operating system is a 98 second edition. however, there is a lil sticker on the pc that says nt.
Okay. Now, where did you download that emulator and what are you using to open that .zip file?
It sounds like your zip file is actually named .zip.something else
If you have the option "hide extensions for known filetypes" checked it may be masking the end of the file. The error sounds like Dr. Watson thinks the file is a Watson log file, and is thus trying to open it.
I just tested this on XP myself, renaming an RAR I had to rar.nfo - and the windows help system wanted to open it, plus when hiding extensions, it still showed up as only .rar
This is likely the problem with your file. For some reason you either renamed it during download, later on, or someone else did it to mess with you. Or perhaps the place you downloaded it from had it named that way to avoid detection on their hosting account for the web site, for some weird reason.
The only other option, is that somehow, Dr. Watson was set to be associated with zip files. Which would make no sense, unless you did that too....
It looks like you downloaded Nesticle anyway. FCE Ultra, Nestopia, VirtuaNES are all much better emulators these days, and Nesticle offers no real competitive advantage over them.
Ok ok, figured it all out. The 98 system did not have any type of file extractor so I downloaded one and it opened the files no problems. I have downloaded a couple of roms and all is working well. As far as Dr W...when I first opened a file I was prompted to open with what program and the Dr took top honors. Thanks to all for your input. Turning over this system to the kids and they leave my xp alone lol yea right!!!!!!!!!!!!!
