Need help for VBAlink

Hello! I'm trying to play pokemon sapphire in multiplayer modus with the newest version of vbalink from the homepage. I always played with the normal version and when i'm trying to start the old savegame with the link version it says it cant open it. Since I don't want to start all over again: is there any possibility to modify the savegame to use it in the VBA link edition?

Always when i'm trying to start the safegame, it says: "Unsupported VisualBoyAdvance save game version 9". That sucks^^ . Is there any chance to modify my safegame or cheat in a new game to get my old pokemon back? COme on, someone has to know something ^^. thank u all.
