I downloaded VisualBoyAdvance and opened it up but I don't know how to start running the games...its just a black screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Nah, pointing to easyEmu is good to raise postcountalco...you should put "emu n00bs take a look at Easyemu" in your sig.
