Visual Boy Advance newb question!!!

All right, I'm new to this whole thing and have been wanting to try it out for a while. I downloaded Visual Boy Advance and a Pokemon LeafGreen ROM. The problem is, though, is that I don't know how to display the game. Let alone start it! I would really appreciate some help, and thanks in advance to those who provide it!

just go to file > open rom > then find the rom on your computer
it should open when u double click the file

All right. . . . . I know the ROM is playing on the Viusal Boy, but I can't get any video. Why is that? Do I have the correct settings on?
