I can't open roms

Hi!I've downloaded the gens emulator and also the roms, but I can't open the roms. Every rom is a WinRAR file (not a zip file): this can be the problem?
This is what I do to open a rom: file> open ROM then I select a rom and I clik on "open". IN order to seee the rom files, in the "file Type"box I have to select all file types (otherwise I can't see the roms I have). Please help me!

Hi Montpics! I have WinRAR. The roms I have were in a zipped file, I have unzipped it and now I have a folder which contains the roms, every rom is zipped.

ciao Montpics! I've tryed to unrar a rom and it results some files, they are "file BIN". But which oh them I have to select to open the rom? (if they all together constitut the rom?)

You can check it out by yourself with the emulators you had. Just click 'Open ROM' and pick on it.

Basically, there are various format of Genesis ROM itself.
