the ending screen in Chrono Trigger

uh i have a question regarding chrono trigger (and other games, actually) not related to weapons or anything.

after i beat the game, i get to the last screen where it says "the end." but for some reason, it doesn't go back to the title screen. all of the buttons work, but when i press them nothing happens. this has happened during tales of phantasia and earthbound as well. it just gets stuck at the last screen, and i know it's not totally frozen cause the music still works.

does anybody know how to solve this?

i'd appreciate any help, cause i really wanna play new game +

Not sure about this game, but FVII on the PSX ends much like the same: A starfield like that Windows screensaver with the "Prelude" music, and it won't stop until you reset the PSX
