Thread: ePSXe slows down after some play?

Unhappy ePSXe slows down after some play?

I've installed ePSXe and it seems to be working perfectly, until it's been running for about 4 or 5 minutes. At that time it slows to a crawl and begins skipping frames like mad.

I know it's nothing to do with the sound as I've tried turning the sound off and the same thing happens. I've also tried playing around with various video settings and that doesn't seem to help either.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be, or at least where I should continue looking for a problem?

    Thanx.

Possibly the memory usage. Can you tell us your PC specs?

    Win XP Home w/ SP2
    2.4 GHz
    768 megs ram
    On board graphics and sound

It's not a powerhouse machine by any means, but I figured if the system was unable to handle running the program it would be an instant thing, not something that would kick in after 4 or 5 minutes of play.

Either way, thanks for the responses and hope you can help.

Funny, as there should be fine on playing PS games.

Might probably the installed softwares in your PC that slow the performance down? I'm really not sure.

But you should try to test it with PSXeven first. If problems still exist, tell us here.

Well, I tried PSXeven and the same thing happened. Perhaps there is something wrong with the bios or gpu files?

Oh, and I'm running off original discs if that makes a difference.

The bios should be SCPH1001.bin (the most common). Maybe you try to get it elsewhere. But I still don't thinks that's the main problem.

So, what plugins did you used?

    Running ePSXe Version 1.6.0.

    Video Plugin:
    P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.16

    Sound Plugin:
    ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2.

    CD-ROM Plugin:
    ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.

Then you should try this plugins and see how it goes.

    Graphic :
    Pete's OpenGL
    Pete's DX7 D3D

    Sound :
    Eternal SPU

    CD-ROM :
Anything (But I'd just use SaPu's)
