Silent Hill. The SH saga storyline is far deeper imho, plus the Akira Yamaoka music is just gorgeous.

Ys aka Y's is an old an great RPG saga by Falcom. Started back in 1987 for PC-88, untill the 6th part in the series (The Ark of Napishtim) was released last year for PS2 (2003 on PC). The Oath in Felgana is the last yet, but looks to be a remake of Ys III. I hope this one will be available outside Japan some day. Probably one of the most ported RPG series ever btw.
