Unhappy N64 Emulator Help - Plugin Road block

I read that the Dolphin emulator can make the wii games appear to look better but I could not get it to work. My alienware laptop just doesn't recognize the SSBB wii disc. I guess I will have to stick with playing SSBB on wii instead? Rawdump says my drive is faulty. Yeah Right... However I got the N64 emulators to run on my laptop but I never realized how ugly mario kart 64 looked. Does a graphics plugin help that?

After reading the forum topics and trying to do research here, someone said Glide 64 is the best right? Well...

Problem 1: ProjectN64 doesn't recognize Glide 64 "Wonder Plus" plugin when I drop the files into the plugin folder.
Problem 2: Folders Federelli, Hacktarux glide, Olivieryuyu 1964, ...what? What are these files necessary for in ProjectN64? (sigh) anyways moving on...
Problem 3: On the compatibility list, Mario Kart 64 has to be played with Mupen in order for Glide 64 to work? :/
Problem 4: The emulator 1964 at the downloads page here... There is no emulator except for a few folders. Inside 1964_11 folder there is \bin, \src, fixes, regressions. Uh... What do I click on?

This stuff is all from this site not from some outside emulator download site. If you could help I would appreciate it. If not... zzz -.-

the wii emulator will set hi res as its made in hi res in development. n64 was not really any higher in dev so to make things look better you get texture packs.

Glide 64, good lord, hell no.. LOL glide is a wrapper for the old 3dfx chip set used in the early 90s. Use the latest direct x.

Problem 1: dont mess with glide64.
Problem 2: yeah skip all of that.
Problem 3: that's old... I'm certain the latest pj64 emulates it.
Problem 4: 1964 should have an executable, ill let the board admin look in to that.

pj64 is the best 64 emulator around IMO. We also have some big Mupen fans here. To get a res above the developed res you need to use texture packs. I dont know much about them.

Some games show better on other plug-ins and some game will not work on some plug-ins. So its best to switch plug-ins when you find you have troubles.

No Glide? But Glide or RiceVideo are necessary in order for textures to work right?
Plugins do not appear at the drop down menu under Option > Settings > Plugins: Video (graphics) plugin:
Project64 2.0.0.14 does not recogize textures or plugins.
