Thread: New to PSX emulation. Need help.

Default New to PSX emulation. Need help.

Hey, I'm running PCSX in the hopes of playing Mega Man Legends (as opposed to the HIGHLY sound compressed MM64). I tried using default plugins, but the game didn't look nearly as good as Project 64 made MM64 look, and the sound was incredibly high pitched as well as static filled.

I tried Pete's plugins (both audio and graphical), but I have absolutely no idea how to configure them and the emulator keeps locking up and going unresponsive when starting the gameafter each attempt. Clearly, I'm doing something horribly wrong.

    Can somebody please aid me?

If needed, I can give my PC specs and the error messages that pop-up.

PSX emulation doesn't let you change configuration while playing a game, you got to exit out of the game and then configure the plugins. I would try raising the resolution.

Sadly for me, I already knew that from my trials (failures) with ePSXe. My resolution is also at max. I have a laptop that can run Crysis so high-powered is what I'm aiming for, however I still get errors.

Errors: When clicking Pluggins & Bios- "The program can't start because MSVCR100.dll is missing from your computer." This error appears three times before opening pluggins
When using Pete's graphics and sound pluggin: "Missing render-texture extension!", "No pixel format available!", and then the emulator crashes.

My wishlist here I suppose is to clean up the picture in a way that Project 64 does with Mega Man 64. However, not with the audio compression issues of Mega Man 64. As for sound, this emulator seems to mess up when Roll first talks during tutorial stage where her voice is completely static-filled and honestly hurts the ear drum from the high-pitch.

Help will be largely appreciated! Afterall, got to be taught the complex stuff to learn it, yes?

What sound plugins do you have? It should never have static for such a popular game. To get rid of that "MSVCR100.dll" problem, I would try installing this: Microsoft Visual C++ As for the graphics, there should be several options to play in with petes OpenGL and the like.

Hi. I also need some assistance. I am using PSX v1.13 and my sound is totally choppy and just off. it cuts out at times and sometimes the video and sound both kinda slow way way down and it lags like crazy...anyone able to offer a suggestion as to how I might fix these problems? I'm trying to do a playthrough of a game for Youtube and if it's choppy and skippy no one would watch.
