Fire Red Saving Problem

After busting my butt, I've finally defeated the Elite Four and I want to continue the game so I can catch all the Pokemon. However, when I reload my game, I go right back to where Oak puts my Pokemon into the hall of fame. Can someone help me out so I can continue my game like I normally would if I was using a Game Boy?
