MAC emulator pokemon error

I have tried two GBA emulators on my Macbook Pro Laptop. Visual Boy Advance and Boycott Advance. With Visual Boy, My save files keep disappearing and I keep getting error messages when I try to save my game, save state, or quit the game. With Boycott, the game freezes whenever I try to go to a Pokemon Center or pokemart etc. Does anybody know how to work either of these two, or what i did wrong? Is there a better GBA Emulator for a Macbook?
Also, the error message i receive when i try to save is error creating file battery saves/(what ever the game is)

I have been having the exact same problem. I've had no luck fixing it can any one help us out?
