Chrono Trigger Rom gets stuck

So I have been playing Chrono Trigger on the ZSENS (don't worry, I do actually own the cart, I just like to mess around with the Cheat codes on my comp). Anyway, I've gotten all the way to where You are doing the sidequests after you resurrect Crono. When I beat the monster in the desert, I try to leave the cave and for some reason my roms screws up. The music still plays but the screen blacks out. I've tried using different emulators, but I still can't get the game to go past there. Any help would be appreciated...

Does the games checksum fail? when you boot the game in Znes?



Also it may be one of the cheat codes you had on at some point in the game.
