VBA Backup Memory problem

So I know there have been some other threads like this in the pasts years, but none answered my question...

I've been trying to play Golden Sun adn Final Fanstasy Advance on VBA for my iMac but I can't save: it always say something like "unable to find backup memory".

I've heard that you can change the save type, but where? Again, I'm on an iMac, so the menu's a little different from the one on a PC.

Try a different version of the emu, or make a save file in windows and copy it over, and this might help ._.
