Yep, there is a way, but the adapters are very rare. You can try using an Xbox 360 controller though. Currently one of the Emulator Zone members are creating a universal adapter, you can check out that thread if you are interested in that.
So i downloaded the project 64 emulator and everything works great but i find it kind of hard to play games with a keyboard. i dont have a n64 controller but i was wondering if there was a way to get a usb adapter for the gamecube controller and be able to play the games on project 64 with it.

you don't need a controller, just get used to playing with a keyboard and you'll be fine with most games..
