Whenever I play N64 games it says I need a controller...help please

It says I need a controller and I'm confused......what do I do so I can use the Keyboard...?

I'm using 1964 by the way....and I'm really new to this, so can you explain it step by step from the minute my game starts up....? and please simplify it (sorry for asking for alot, I'm just extremely new).

Have you tried project64?

have you looked at xpadder?

That problem is usually because you have N-rage Input plugin enabled, and it doesn't have a default setup for the controller, so you need to go and reconfigure your controls.
