By any change have you calibrated it? I'm not sure what type of adapter or joystick apps you have but they should include calibration.
I've just got a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop, but when I use my PS3 controller with an emulator like Project 64, it seems to think that I'm pushing the right analogue stick to the right all the time, even though I'm not touching it. This makes it impossible to set the controller configuration.
I managed to copy over a controller profile from another computer, but when playing a game, the same problem occurs - the game thinks I'm pushing right on the analogue stick. Even stranger is I disable the right analogue stick and the problem migrates to the left analogue stick.
Is there any way to solve this problem?? I'm guessing it has something to do with my laptop since this didn't happen with my old computer.

What operating system are you using (including service packs if it's Windows)?
