VisualBoyAdvance-1.8.0-beta problems

hey people, i just downloaded the visboyadvance, and a pokemon fire red rom, the game seems to run fine untill the main screen when told to hit start, i do so, however it just says that the 1m sub-circuit board is not installed, any ideas about how to solve this??
any help much appreciated
p.s, please no responses along the lines of install the sub-circuit board, not helpful at all :P

You should try getting a different rom of that game or a different GBA emulator, such as NO$GBA
