help! can't get usb joystick to work

ok, I downloaded wgens 211 and got it to work perfectly. i'd like to play all the old sonic games but somehow I can't figure out how to use my usb joystick with it. and help??

When you open Gens, select 'Options' from the toolbar, then 'Joypads' then 'redefine'. If your joypad/stick is detected you can define the controls here. If its not detected by Gens but works in windows then try an App like Joy2Key or XPadder that will allow your PC to convert your joystick/pad input to keyboard keys which you can then assign in the controller config menu.
