Thread: Problem with Mame

    Default Problem with Mame

I've just got a new PC and Monitor. I've loaded Mame, from a CD, and downloaded some new Roms. I now have a problem.

Some of the games show sideways on the screen. Why is this, and how can i rectify it please ?

I've tried downloading a more recent version, and it's still the same.

    Thanks in advance

Make sure the rotate options are turned off in the mame options/ini file. Also open the mame cfg folder and delete the contents.

I deleted the two files in the cfg Folder, but i then opened Mame up, clicked Options, but i couldn't see anything to do with ini / rotate etc..........

I take it you're using MameUI32 then. You'll find the rotate options in 'Options'>'Default Game Options'>'Display'.

At the moment it says Rotation - None, and the Do Not Apply Rotation box is ticked. Isn't that how it should be ?

Yep, although you could try changing 'none' to 'default'.

Might be an issue with your monitor. is it an LCd that supports vertical as well as horizontal display (you can physically rotate it through 90 degrees)?.

Could be that your display driver is outputting something that mame is reading as the monitor being in a portrait (vertical) configuration.
