Default Joystick not functioning on epsxe152

Hello I have the psxe152 emulator and am trying to get it to recognize my logitech dual action playstation style joystick. The game I'm trying to get it to work with at the moment is Castlevania Symphony of the Night. I configured gamepad 1 for digital/analog which I should be able to switch back and forth with with f5, but it doesn't work. I already set up a profile for SOTN on my joystick so that's not it. I should mention that the game doesn't register the keyboard either. Any ideas?

I just realized that my question might have been misleading. I'm not asking a question about my joystick, I'm asking about the epsxe152 emulator. What I need to know is why the emulator might not recognize the joystick or keyboard. Is there a trouble shooting guide for this kind of thing? Or has anyone had similar problems with the epsxe152 emulator? Could it be the game perhaps or something else?

In theory it could be any of those. You might want to try another plugin. But the first thing I would try is getting a newer version of ePSXe. 1.7.0 is out.

I downloaded epsxe 1.7.0 but when I try to run it I get an error message saying that the application failed to start because zlib 1.dll wasn't found. I try reinstalling the program but it does it every time. I also tried searching google for the dll to see if I could down load it somewhere but each place I go to is asking me to pay for it. What should I do?

Search this forum. There are soem threads about that file and where to get it I think. Or do a Google search again because it should be out there without paying links.
