Problem with a ROM, I think

I was playing Majora's Mask and after I beat the first temple and went to the deku king to talk with him the game froze and got a pop up saying something about a rom verification(as soon as I started talking with the deku king). Then I closed the screen and started it up again and another pop up came after the beggining saying something about flash ram.Then when I hit ok my file was gone.

Everything worked perfectly till that part. I cant remember exactly what the pop ups said. Im guessing I need to try a different rom?

Oh yeah, im using PJ64.

So my MM rom has some lettering stuff after it ( (U) [!] ) do i download a rom with different lettering on it? What is that stuff for anyway?
