Is there a way to get crossbow and battlezone working in mame32?

Crossbow and Battlezone both work fine. They've worked fine in mame for years. Sounds like you have roms that aren't compatible with the build of mame you are using.

I would suggest finding a source for more up to date roms.

Actually they work for me in a previous version of Mame32 (.103) but in (.114) it doesn't work and states there are about 8 missing files but it's the same zip file

Exactly what I said in the previous post. Mame roms get updated, you need newer versions of those roms to use with newer versions of mame. As development goes on, roms get better dumps, and other things get cracked and figured out both of which change the internal structure of the rom and require a new one to be sourced if you want to use updated versions of the emulator.

For crossbow the exidy 440 driver was updated in mame0.113 and again in 0.123.

Battlezone had updates in 0.107, 0.108, 0.113, 0.115 and 0.117.

If you want to use newer versions of mame you will need to update your rom set.
