"did you unzip the rom first ? "
But there is no need to extract the rom from the zip or rar file if the emulator is visual boy advance.

Why are you trying to find a folder? Maybe you should try finding the desktop folder? That is where you saved it in the first place right? And I don't think there is a hack. You don't need to hack it at all.

Apply the hack?! you say?
first you need to get the original base ROM of the Hack!
for example Pokemon Naranja A ROM Hack and the base ROM is Pokemon Ruby so you can either put the Pokemon Naranja ROM hack to where your base ROM (Pokemon Ruby) is placed and rename the hacked ROM also Pokemon Ruby...... or there's another method for this download an IPS Patcher if you are too noobish to patch it manually...... like Lunar IPS to patch the ROMs for you automatically.......
When you have your Lunar IPS patcher just click "Apply Patch" button then select the hack and then select the Base ROM and then poof! run the Base ROM (The Orginal Game) with your emulator, then it's all patched up, hope that helps you!
