ARGH! lunar SSSC lagging like HELL

yeah, so im not gunna lie ive posted maybe 10 things my entire life... anyway. i REALLY need some help with this problem ive got... i downloaded epsxe ver 1.6, and i have my copy of LSSSC as an iso on my harddrive (lucky i ripped it onto there before my cd got scracthed and unreadable) but im having a VERY hard time getting this to work right, when i load it up it runs extreemly slow, like im talking 1 frame every like 2 seconds.. then speeds up and goes about 3 seconds of regular speed, then slows down a bit more, then repeats.. this happens through the main menue, the intro movie, and the first bit of gameplay that im willing to sit through before i just close the game... can someone please tell me whats wrong with it? ive ran FF7, grandia, and tales of destiny no problem.. so why the sudden trouble now?

my emu specs:
video - P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.17
fullscreen mode, 640x400 default, 16 bit colour, stretching is 1:1, no dithering, ive been using an FPS limits, with auto detection, and ive disabled my screen saver... but all of these settings worked great with my last games..
Sound - ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2
CDR- ePSXe CDR WNT/W2k core 1.5.2
Bios- bios\scph7502.bin

ps. my computer is definately a peice... but i dont see why that should matter if ive allready had the program run smoothly for other games... so if someone could like... help me.. thatd be freakin FANTASTIC thanks.

ok ive updated to 1.7, and it still has the same problems... please can i get some help here?

edit: ive got the video running fine now... although now the sound runs on a bit of a loop.. about 4 seconds or so and it will quickly repeat the last word said, then continue, then repeat and what not (exp. i walked to the store store, to buy my mothers some some milk, and the milk was was bad when i got home home, so i ended up having to return return to the store once again again).. any seen that before? if so.. how can i fix that lol
