Chrono Cross control problem

I'm trying to play Chrono Cross. However, instead of walking in a straight line, my characters curve back and forth in a serpentine pattern. This is a recent development; the game was working fine.

I've tried fiddling around with the control settings to no avail. Any ideas?

sry guys if this has been answered before, but i searched and couldnt find it. i just started playing chronocross and i love it, but I can't move straight either! does anyone know how to fix this drunk like movement so i can move in a straight line again??
