Thread: Project64 isn't quite working...

  1. #1

    Question Project64 isn't quite working...

I downloaded P J 64 (Project64) off of this website, but it isn't quite working to my expectations. I click on the icon to boot the program up. out of nowhere comes a little warning that says: "Direct3D failed to initialize Error Code 8876086A D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE" so I click okay.
then another warning sign comes up and says: "The default or selected Video Plugin is missing or invalid. check that you have at least one compatable plugin file in your plugin folder" so I click OK again! then another warning sign pops up saying: " This application has failed to start because bmglib.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
SO I click Ok once more, and it just opens the program. I'm not able to play any games...

    what do I do-THANKS

    No. Your video card.

    • Click Start, Run.
    • Type in "dxdiag" (without the quotation marks).
    • Wait for it to load.
    • Check your DirectX version. If you're an XP user, you should have at least DirectX 8.1 installed, since it comes with the operative system.
    • Now click on "Display" tab.
    • Tell us what's in there or take a screenshot and post it here.

And that way we can tell you if your computer can run Project64.

There's the problem. Look at the comments I left in red. Looks like you don't have a video card or you haven't installed the video drivers. If you can't solve your problem on your own, ask for tech support.

Project64 requires Direct3D and you don't have it.
