Re: Check out my mario 64
Yo!!!!
MY EYES THERE BURNING.....THE TREES. THEIR AWSOME
lol
How did you do that.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
I got them by searching on Google Image Search, typing "tree" and got one of them.
By the way, my project is currently frozen, but it's not dead.

Re: Check out my mario 64
looks cool... Maybe you a Butters should get together after Butters finished his and get him to do some high quality stuff on yours.
(Ps, I sooo like inside castle.)

Re: Check out my mario 64
But inside looks like Bowser Castle, lol.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Awsome, Mario 64 has Wii graphics now.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Wii? Lol, I don't think so. Wii has at least 512x512 of texture resolution, while my project has a maximum of 256x256 (half of Wii's texture). I was planning to make them under 512x512, but the plugin couldn't handle it.

Re: Check out my mario 64
Yo butters, I have a quick question.
What image editor did you use?, and do you know if its possible to retexture BMP files?
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
I use Macromedia Fireworks 8 since I can't use PhotoShop because of my defective motherboard. And yes, you can retexture BMP files, but this format is uncompressed.

Maybe... Makes it more real if you ask me... Bowser takes over castle, gets his Gombas to paint lol.
(now i feel like playing this lol)
Hey could anyone point me in the right direction for editing the graphics myself?

Re: Check out my mario 64
Get Rice's video plugin, dump textures, edit with Photoshop or some other program you like (I use Fireworks by myself, but I don't like it) and replace old texture with new ones. Textures can be 4 times bigger. More bigger won't work.
I'm planning to get a new motherboard before I can use Photoshop and continue my project. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get on the job. Earlier, I've been waiting for Project64 1.7 to come, but since it's gonna be released in 2008 I said I can't wait for too long so I think it's better to work on those textures as soon as possible.

Re: Check out my mario 64
Heres a step by step by me.
1.You need an emulator. (project 64 or 1964 are recommended).
2.You will need a mario 64 rom. (in my case)
3.You will need a Rice daedalus video plugin. (make sure its v6.1.0 or higher) http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=26229
When you download Rice, you should also get something called BMGlibPNG.dll, place this where all your emulator stuffs are in.
Setting it up....
When you download the emulator, save it in :C/Program files.
Now in program files, you should see a folder named plugins. Put your Rice in that folder.
Make a folder and name it hires_texture (exact). Place hires_texture where all of your emulator stuff are in. And in that folder make another folder named Super Mario 64.
Next, download my pack and place all of the files in Super Mario 64.
Playing with my pack....
Start up your emulator.
Click on settings and make sure you change the video plugin into rice.
Then load your rom and start playing Mario 64 my style.
for editing, you need image editors, I use photoshop, but there also GIMP, its free and its really good. When saving the images, make sure u dont change the name of the original.

Re: Check out my mario 64
finally got it working, thanks for the help... the textures wouldnt dump in the first place until i turned the option off, i though it would just dump it into the folder as i played, anyway, bomb bomb battle field picture had a make over into a big smily face made in paint :). and some recolouring in gimp. thanks for the help here, and i would like to see a downloadable pack sometime lol

Re: Check out my mario 64
If you dont mind chaos, sometime in the future, I would like to see your work.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
lol, already got a high quality (256*128) textures that form the first floor of the castle into a Bowser like theme... i'm gonna make, Bowsers castle. cause i think it would make more sense.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
cool choas, Ill be waiting for it (if you ever release it)
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Nice work both of you datadayne and butter. I hope chaos is telling the truth and we will be waiting for it as well. ;)
EDIT: I am curious...are you able to redesign the title screen from snes japan version to the snes usa vesion and reinsert it ? Let me know your experience and maybe help people out how as well. ;)

Re: Check out my mario 64
I'm buying the motherboard shortly. That means as soon as I get it I'm resuming the project.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
No, I dont think so RockmanRotties. The title screen doesnt get dumped, so that means that the title screen is not a texture but maybe a model.
Although it is possible for other games if the title screen is a texture.

Re: Check out my mario 64
You screwed the warp pipe. A lot of people won't like it. At least give it a more metal-ish texture.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
You sure,,,,,,,
I kinda liked it, but I guess I better change it.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Looks more like a well than a pipe.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
The well ?? Change it back to pipe but with something fancy on it. The well is not suit for Mario!!! :D
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Now that I think of it, it does look like a well.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
that's pretty cool right there, but I think there's a simple way to do that.....did you replace the wall, floor, and tree sprites with your own? reason I ask is because the doors and everything else is the same...
oh, and it'd be cool if you replaced the mario sprite with the guy from body harvest's sprite...wouldn't it?
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
ehh....I only looked at the first page....but my idea's cool, right?
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
yah, thats a good idea. About the mario spirte. You cant retexture mario because mario is a model, but you can use a plugin called "Nemu64" witch extracts the models and, you can then remodel it with something like 3ds max.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
I thought Nemu64 was another Nintendo 64 emulator.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
it is, but you can use the lemmy plugin that comes with it. But you need a high pixel shader to use it.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Well, I have Shader Model 3.0 if that helps.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Ya, I think that will do.
Btw, if there a game someone wants me to retexture, post them here and ill try my best.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Looks really good nice work datadyne. But 2 be honest i dont like editing my games, at first i do but then after a few weeks i put everything bak 2 normal.
Like with CS 1.6 i got custom weapon skins, sprays, player models, everything and i started feelin weird like i ruined the feeling of the game or sumthin so i just put it all bak to default.
But thats just my opinion man dont take it like im hatin on you lol. Keep up the good work, cos i like to look at it even if i dont use it :D
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
Ok, thanks PhatPlaya. I do enjoy the original feel to it to, I try to keep the feel similar with my pack, but just modern textures.
-
Re: Check out my mario 64
i like the doors. Not the pipe though lol... looks kinda odd... Anyway. as proof that i did at least something.

i'm still working on it, when i'm not dealing with homework and that junk.
