Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
Most new games just don't have the playability of old games that's why I prefer old school games. Here's a couple worth looking at but they don't come under the title 'no one else seems to care about'
Megadrive:
Shining Force 2
Populous 2
Mega-Lo-Mania
Rock n Roll Racing
Toejam and Earl
Snes:
Super Mario World
Street Fighter 2
Killer Instinct
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
I loved Populous 2! god completely forgot about that game. I think Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper can make a come back, loved those games.

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
Well you said old school. Very underrated games. I played these back when I was 10, and was addicted. I loved them.
(Macintosh)
Dungeon of Doom/The Dungeon Reveled (Great dungeon Crawl RPG)
Mathstorm (A educational game, but its a game that brings back memories.)
Midnight Rescue (Same as above made by the same people)
Scab of RA
Lode Runner
Escape Velocity (Ironically a very popular mac game in school)
Amazon Trail
The Carmen Sandiego games.
Yes there are Macintosh emulators, it can emulated up to Mac OS 9. Plus I found a nice site full of mac games, but can't post here. But there abandonware so its not so bad.
(C64 and Apple II)
Questron I and II (I is hard as hell, but had to cheat by using save states)
Legacy of the Ancients (Best RPG I ever played IMO)
Choose your Adventure games for the Apple II.
Fictional Stories with RPG elements.
That is all I can think of for now.
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
Mathstorm? never heard of it tho i did however play a game called mathblaster more then enough to bring the game to school and play it there aswell.
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
awesome Do any of you remember Zork Grand Inquizidor? if im spelling it properly? probly one of the hardest puzzle games i ever played in my life
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
I think I have the Zork games somewhere on my HD.. Never played them though.
I miss being able to play games like Kroz, but none of the CPU slowers I've tried ever seen to work, and DOSBox is too finnicky, it's either too slow or too fast
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
CPU slowers? Why not get a old computer? at a fleamarket for computers type deal thing i go to i can easily get Mhz computers without HDs for about 50$ that work just fine.

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
if its a pc game for an old operating system you should use this instead:
its a program called virtualPc that microsoft made available for free. i use it to play my old copy of magic the gathering (windows 95)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...c/default.mspx
you just need an iso of the operating system on your hard drive (or on a disk) and then you set up a virtual hard drive (similar to the memory cards used by playstation emulators) which allocates a lilttle hard drive space to memory. the setup is quite easy. then you can boot your OS just like it was installed on your pc.
my choice for games:
Megadrive (Genesis):
Comix Zone
Puyo Puyo 2
kid chameleon
Nes:
Adventures of Dizzy
3d world runner
mega man V
sadly all i can think of right now.
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
SNES/SFC:
Rockman & Forte
Rockman/Megaman X,X2,X3
Castlevania
Zelda 3
NES/Famicom:
Rockman/Megaman series
Castlevania series
Zelda 1 and 2

Yes and no... Read below:
Quote:
First things first. There is no DOS in Windows XP! What is called the "command prompt" is not really DOS ... it can be thought of as more of a simulation of DOS. Windows XP (and Windows 2000), unlike Windows 95, 98, and ME, are NOT built on an MSDOS foundation. So, while this makes for
better speed and stability, it also makes for sometimes lousy backwards compatibility.
However, have no fear! This page will hopefully help you to get the majority of DOS games
running under XP. Of course, it's important to remember that some games just won't work on your modern computer, no matter how hard you try, so
don't be too disappointed. ;) Also please keep in mind that these tips are for
Windows XP only ... for more general tips on getting games to run, please read the
DOSGAMES.com Frequently Asked Questions page. Thanks!

Guess I'm old here... Atari anyone? Favorite: Alternate Reality: The City, Frogger, Dig dug, hey even Pacman. :p (A few others, but don't remember, Atari in storeage..) Arcade: T2: The Arcade Game, Gauntlet Legends, & Mortal Kombat (First one). NES: Mario Bros., Mario Bros. 3, Crystalis, & Punch-out. This is what I would consider old pal.... SNES: (Kind of old-school) Shadowrun, Brain Lord, & Magic Sword. My other favorite games are kind of popular, not really considered old school. (Ocarina of Time/Super Metroid/Star Fox 64/& Mario RPG) ;)

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
How could I forget a fav: Atari - Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, though liked the others before, just the best of the best, never could finish that last dungeon... Stuck on that damn puzzle on the second to the last floor... Ultima VI: The False Prophet & VIII: Pagan came out years after, also not too bad, but didn't get to play them until 2001 on PC: Ultima Collection. Lets not forget Zork 1 & 2, can't see crap, but can read it, eh? :p

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
Back in the early 90's: Mac's Apple PC - Treasure Cove. Fun as hell, though that bridge never seem to end, wonder if they were "messing" with us of the ideal of letting us think you can beat the game. Had 200 gems and realized that it's not getting anywhere. Lost many "recesses over it". :p Oregon Trail (The first one here) was okay for the first couple of times, though remember me and a friend creating "Grave sites" along the trail every time a party member dies. We did this all over the place until every time ya moved, a site and comments pop up. This got bad over time, but funnny as hell. Hah, we where terrorists. :p

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
My dad and I use to love to play SNES,N64 and PSX when they first came out. We are big gaming finatics i guess that is obvious since i am here lol. Lately i talk to him and all he is intrested in is Star Wars and Ever Quest. Movies and game playing is just about the only time we actually get along. Not trying to go on a soap box either. I could play these games for years and never get bored of them.
Paperboy
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Killer Instinct

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
Right now only two games come to my mind, that were likely pretty popular when they came out but no one has likely heard of, or played much since..
Zedblade, for Neo Geo.
Stargunner, for IBM PC / MS-DOS.
Both are excellent side scrollers with great visuals and excellent music.
Also I just thought about another game for MS-DOS. Knights of Xentar (Dragon Knight III in Japan). I first came across KoX on AOL when I was 13 or 14, somewhere around that age.. I know not many people played it for sure, as it was an Adult Hentai RPG. Though it came as a roughly 14/15MB compressed zip, it was a R.I.P without the CD and lacked the actors spoken dialogue. Which it turns out is a good thing because it is horrible (I have copies of both the RIP version and the CD version).. BUT it was still fun to play as an RPG. It had some unique combat mechanics among other things and played just like a console-style RPG for the most part only you used your keyboard and/or mouse.. The music was sparse in selection but it had a few memorable tunes as well.. Including the generic getting laid music that played when you slept with girls.. It had that cheesey porno feel to it that makes you want to giggle

Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
I am still enjoying play SNES and GBA games. They are fine old school games for all the time. I like to enjoy those games in peace and relax to keep away from bad and pervert things.
-
Re: Whats your favorite Oldschool games No one Else seems to care about?
Nothing wrong with a little perversion here and there.. Even present in some old console & computer ;)
