multiplayer or LAN?

if a group of friends and i all download the same emulator games for N64 and we're all connected to the same server, is there something that we could download to play multiplayer (like smash bros with all four of us on separate computers) on LAN?

There's a multiplayer version of Project64 called Project64k, but never tried it. When I get something, I'll come back and post :)
